Do I need wifi for playGo to work?
No, playGo uses it’s own wireless protocol which is specifically designed to work independently of other wireless networks. This means that not only do you have everything you need to make your audio wireless, but playGo is also less prone to interference than other standard wireless solutions.
What sort of range should I expect?
There is no single answer for this. Different locations will produce different results. In ideal conditions we have measured up to 35 meters (about 115 feet). If there are a lot of walls or concrete in your installation environment you will experience a reduction in range. In apartment testing we have measured up to 50-75ft of range depending on the number of walls between the playGo tx and rx. In any case, we offer a 30-day money back guarantee so you can try it in your home risk free!
What on my laptop can I listen to with playGo?
Virtually anything that would normally play through your laptop speakers will now be routed to playGo. This includes iTunes, your web browser (for Rhapsody, Pandora, YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, etc) and even system alerts.
How is playGo different than Sonos or Squeezebox?
Ease of use and sound quality. We respect and admire what Sonos and Squeezebox provide to users: multi-room audio with lots of options and features. We realized that a lot of listeners want something simpler. They want to be able to skip the complicated setup and just enjoy amazing sound. Listeners want to free the sound from their laptops, and playGo does exactly that. Furthermore, Sonos & Squeezebox are limited to stereo music. With playGo, audio from your video files can be streamed in real-time to your stereo, instantly and easily.
I have a Mac, and when I hit "play" in iTunes the audio is still playing on my laptop’s speakers. How do I send audio to playGo?
OS X does not automatically allow the sound output device to change, so this needs to be done manually. Here are the steps (make sure playGo is connected via USB): 1) Click on the Apple logo in the menu bar, located at the top left corner of the screen. In the menu that pulls down select "System Preferences." 2) Once the System Preferences panel loads up click on "Sound." If you do not see "Sound", click the "Show All" button. 3) Move to the "Output" tab and select playGo tx as your desired output device. Once you have clicked on the desired output device, close the window - you're done!
I use Windows, and my audio doesn't automatically play through playGo, how do I set playGo as my default audio device?
If Windows prevents playGo from consistently taking over the sound you can follow these steps to set playGo as the default audio device: You can right-click the speaker icon located on the Windows Task Bar and select "Sounds". Or you can navigate to the "Control Panel" through the Start button or Windows Search Bar. In the Control Panel select "Sound." In the "Sound" window that opens, select the "Playback" tab. In the list of displayed sound cards, select "playGo tx". Click the "Set Default" button to set your playGo tx as the default audio device for playback. Your playGo tx should now have a green check mark. Click OK to save the changes and you are done, now playGo will always be the default when plugged in.
